First-month ranking report
Open full imageThe client had built and maintained a website for a long time, but it was not attracting search traffic. For a property and homebuilding business, that meant its existing online presence was not yet reaching people looking for its services. This was the problem SEOcean, the company I founded and lead, took on.
As founder and business leader, I focused on understanding what the client needed from the website: which services should be discoverable, who was looking for them, and how visitors could understand the offer and begin a conversation. This case illustrates work delivered under my leadership, connecting SEO direction with the client's business needs.
Understand the business before setting the SEO direction
For this client, I connected three priorities:
- Local discovery — use Local SEO and Google My Business, now Google Business Profile, to help people looking for a provider in the service area find and contact the business.
- Coverage across the client's services — work towards making the range of service pages discoverable, then progressively improve their positions using the results observed.
- A route from interest to contact — plan continued On-page and UX/UI improvements so visitors can understand the services and move through the Sales Funnel more easily.
The journey I had in mind was find the business → understand the service → make contact → discuss a project. That business journey shaped how the work was prioritised.
A tangible signal in the first month
Within approximately the first month after taking over the work, we began to see concrete progress. My record from that period describes first-place visibility in a Local SEO context and keywords reaching pages 1–2. The accompanying report preserves a comparison between 30 July 2024 and 24 August 2024.
I regarded this as a very encouraging early signal. SEO requires sustained improvement and observation; the effects of some changes can take months to become apparent, as explained in Google Search Central's guidance.
The business significance was that a previously undiscovered website was beginning to reach people searching for the client's services. For a homebuilder, visibility aligned with its services and service area creates an opening for relevant business enquiries.
Make discovery support the business
My approach continued beyond search visibility. Once people could find the business, the next work was to develop service pages and the website experience so interested visitors could see how to make contact, creating opportunities for relevant leads.
That is why I considered On-page SEO, UX/UI and the Sales Funnel alongside search strategy. The report is an inspectable example of early ranking progress. Following visits, enquiries and leads addresses the next question: how is the website supporting the business?
The opening month of a long-term client relationship
This is a first-month example from a long-term client engagement. Our work with the client continued beyond the period captured here. The early results became a basis for further work on local discovery, service pages and the route from interest to contact.
As SEOcean's founder and business leader, I value setting a direction that understands the client's business, makes progress visible and supports continued development of the channel. This early example of SEOcean's work illustrates that approach.
